The end of April, I added a fitness thread to my blog. I wrote Choices: Being Fit. I was inspired by Adam’s book, Man 2.0 Engineering the Alpha: A Real World Guide to an Unreal Life. I wanted to team up with my audience to become virtual fit buddies. In May, I posted 3 additional articles. While I was in Europe, Adam shared an article, How Do I Become Motivated to Lead a Healthy Life? I appreciate the responses I received from my followers and Adam’s. Books were mailed to the contest winners. Now, it is time to regroup. I’m asking 10 questions for Virtual Fit Buddies.
Starting with my first fitness blog, I made a conscious effort to lead a healthier lifestyle. I ran into one major obstacle. I went on a cruise. I tried to monitor what I ate. There were too many hidden fats and sugars and I wanted to enjoy my dining experience. I tried to offset the additional calories by being as active as possible. If you’re planning a cruise, I recommend 6 Tips to Promote a Healthy Cruise Experience.
As I previously mentioned, the first step to a fit lifestyle is acknowledging your deficits and making a commitment to follow a plan.
- Have you decided on your fitness goals?
- What is your biggest challenge?
I am forcing myself not to make excuses. I am setting aside 30-60 minutes a day for some type of physical activity. Some days are more challenging than others. It is easy to find reasons not to exercise.
- Have you increased your activity level or are you still in rut?
- What is motivating you?
I am simultaneously trying to cut down on my overall consumption of food. I enjoy eating a wide variety of foods, some healthier than others. I admit to having a sweet tooth and being a chocoholic. Acknowledging this weakness goes only so far. I continually have to remind myself that it is not wise to overindulge. Fruits and vegetables are a wonderful option. When you’re just over 5 feet, I am not able to consume as many calories as someone a foot taller. This is one disadvantage to being short.
- What steps have you taken to modify your intake of foods?
- Can you share your success or your struggles?
While the pounds are not dropping as quickly as I like, I am enjoying my new activities and considering other ways to be active. Overall, I feel more energetic.
- Are you having fun or is exercising still a burden?
- What is your favorite exercise or activity?
I’ve yet to reach my first goal, but I’m already thinking about different ways that I could reward myself. Have you thought about a reward system?
- Do rewards help or hinder the process?
I’m reaching out to my virtual fit buddies.
- Can you lend a helping hand by sharing your stories?
