The first week of my Virtual Book Tour is almost complete. Today, I will be appearing as a guest blogger at Mom It Forward. In October, I had the distinct honor of being recognized by this popular website as “Mom of the Day.” Since that time, I’ve been contributing articles to their site on a wide variety of topics. Today’s topic, Winter Tradition: Family Ski Trips to Colorado is a story that brings back many heartwarming memories.
Starting in 1987, we decided to make skiing one of our family traditions. Our frequent trips to Keystone Resort became an expected part of our winter plans. Until Ira’s horrific ski accident in 2010, our ski memories were always associated with joy and delight. The accident put our ski endeavors into a different category. While we always knew the potential dangers that surround a high altitude ski adventure, we never fully comprehended the impact it would have on our family. I write about this experience in MAY THIS BE THE BEST YEAR OF YOUR LIFE.
Our entire family is grateful that Ira recovered from his injuries. His positive attitude allowed him to return to the slopes without any trepidations. However, I will never forget the day when Ira was put into an induced coma. I will forever be appreciative of the people who took care of him that day and the days that followed.
Life is a mixture of positive and negative events. While at times, the negative occurrences may appear to outweigh the positive. Each day, each week, and each year must be looked upon as possibly being the best.
If you haven’t visited Mom It Forward, I recommend taking time to view the site. It is filled with interesting articles on a wide variety of topics- home, crafts, family, food, lifestyle, making a difference, parenting, and travel. I thank Mom It Forward for the opportunity to be a guest blogger.
