Today, my Virtual Book Tour visits with Dorit Sasson at Giving Voice to the Voiceless. Dorit and I have never met in person, but have developed a wonderful working relationship through email correspondence. We both share a passion for multicultural education and harbor a strong Jewish identity. We also decided to tell our respective  stories by writing candid memoirs.

After reading my book, MAY THIS BE THE BEST YEAR OF YOUR LIFE, Dorit sent me an email that stated,

“I just finished your book – in one word, wow! Thank you so much for sharing your personal story with me/the world. I appreciate the courage it must have taken for you to give voice to your powerful story. I was with you every step of the way – I really felt for you and your family. What a journey you’ve been on – so much drama and yet, so many lessons to be learned. From one educator to another, I admire your tenacity to deal with so much uncertainty. There are so many rich layers to your memoir and so many lessons to be learned.”

Dorit sent a list of interview questions. My answers are found on her wonderful website, Giving Voice to the Voiceless. I encourage you to take some time to acquaint yourself with her site.

Dorit Sasson, a New York City native, is a teacher’s teacher with over sixteen years of professional experience in teacher education and multicultural classroom settings. She is an ESL educator, writer, creative thinker, visionary and created the an online global teaching and coaching center. Teaching in Israel required Dorit to act and think like an Israeli to survive and thrive in the classroom.

Dorit now uses those experiences of working  in diverse settings as a transformational author. She has offered a variety of workshops and customized in-service programs to schools, community colleges, universities and organizations to enhance the success and advancement for teachers and diverse learners. As part of her great big vision, in March 2012, she launched the website, Giving Voice to the Voiceless, aimed to help visionaries, teachers, creative thinkers and global leaders as well as entrepreneurs to claim their heartfelt truth as they know it to voice their most precious and intimate possession – their Story.

Dorit and Sandra’s stories would never have existed online two decades ago. With the ever reaching abilities of technology, these two authors were able to make a relationship that can last forever. Both share similar backgrounds and it was a joy to learn more about Sandra and also learn about Dorit’s story. I admire both of them greatly because of the strength and values they stand for.
