In a city with more than 5.5 million people, restaurants abound. Finding one is not a problem. Finding one that you will enjoy is a bit more challenging. Finding one that will not make a Westerner bolt to the nearest restroom is a totally different story. If you are in India, consider these 8 Bangalore restaurants.

Water purification methods vary from place-to-place as well as overall hygienic practices. I have dined at 5 star hotel restaurants and ended up being violently sick with uncontrollable diarrhea and also ate at questionable places where I suffered no ill effects.

Food preparation, the water quality, and the personnel appear to be the key. Keep in mind that it is probably safer to eat cooked foods and drink bottled water whenever possible. That being said, I cannot guarantee that you will not have an incident. After all, it only takes one person’s poor hygiene or a chef not taking appropriate food precautions for contamination to occur. Remember it can happen in any country, but more precautions need to be taken in India.
