Did anyone notice the link that mysteriously appeared on my website’s right sidebar today?
Scroll down past the Goodreads Giveaway button and you’ll see it.
I added Ask David, a book promotion website. Check out my promotion page.
This site appears to be a wonderful marketing resource for authors and a great place for readers to find new books. It consolidates all of your pertinent contacts on one site that currently has a following of over 8700 people on Twitter and approximately 2500 LIKES on Facebook. Hopefully for David and his subscribers that number will continue to grow.
Is there a charge for this service? No.
Free?
Yes, absolutely no strings attached. At least, I have yet to experience any.
The template that you fill in is straightforward and user friendly. Just keep in mind that you cannot cut and paste the description of your book from your Amazon page or book cover. You will need to create something new.
How long does it take for your account to become active? It depends on you and David.
If you just fill out the form, you will wait your turn for the information to be processed. First come, first serve can be a quick or slow process. There are too many variables to determine any time frame. A second option is to agree to add an Ask David link to your website. By doing so, your information will jump to the front of the line.
Linking to other sites is beneficial to all parties involved. Unless you have a preference to living in isolation, it is a win-win situation for both the author and the promoter.
According to the website, this forum promotes books and publishes reviews submitted by the community. The company checks all of the reviews manually before they are published. The reviews cannot be cut and pasted from another site because only original reviews will be accepted. Over 4100reviews have been published so far.
Check out my promotion page and tell me what you think?
- Does the site have an attractive appearance?
- Would you consider window-shopping for books on Ask David?
- If you’ve read my book, would you add an original review to Ask David?
Remember, If you add a comment to one of my blogs this week, you will be eligible for my 1st website book giveaway.
MAY THIS BE THE BEST YEAR OF YOUR LIFE is available on Amazon.
I’d love to hear your honest feedback. Authors thrive on comments.

AskDavid apparently no longer offer priority service in return for backlinks – now they give priority for a $10 donation.
I’ve seen this time and time again. Offer a service for free to draw people in, then once there’s a big following start charging.

Bill,
Thanks for providing an update regarding AskDavid’s priority service. As I mentioned in the blog, I was impressed with the format of this site. I did not mind providing a backlink so that he could build his web presence. However, I’m not sure that I’d spend the $10, but I can understand why some entities start charging after they gain a certain level of visibility.

Ask David does wonderful free book promotions. Of course he likes to make money and also sells promotional services.
He has given me such great free promotions I feel obligated to throw a little cash business his way.
If all businesses gave away there products and services, there would be no businesses, (Business 101).
